I just got tagged by Sevda over at Weareyouneak to show what's in my bag at the moment, which is exciting because, 1. that blog is so inspiring and I'm kind of amazed that they'd tag me and, 2., it gives me an excuse to show you the new purse I just bought off of Etsy! Hopefully it's more interesting than the bag contents--they are very boring, definitely not glamorous. I change bags every so often and have a big mass of receipts and junk piled up in every one of them, but these are the things I pretty much always carry around with me: a big old wallet, the sunglasses I always wear, lipgloss, Stila lipstick, old phone, and Altoids. The most exciting thing is my G.P.S., which saves me from getting lost on estate sale adventures!
I'm definitely excited about this bag, though. Ever since I saw the perfectly simple purses in A.P.C.'s Fall collection I've been on the look-out for a cheaper, vintage substitute, and I think I might have found one in this old Dooney and Bourke bag. It's not nearly as great as one of A.P.C.'s suede bags, but then again it wasn't $470, and the quality's still pretty good. It took me forever to decide on one, though; there are some really good and simple bags for Fall on Etsy right now:

1. Bonnie Cashin Cashin-Carry Handbag: This one was never really one of the contenders for my new vintage Fall bag; it's kind of A.P.C. bag pricey, and I'm not even sure I'd know how to properly carry it. But I love how simple and clever it is, and I love how Bonnie Cashin used to slap little coin purses onto the outsides of her purses.

2. Dooney and Bourke satchel: This is the one I got, except in tan; I had a hard time choosing a color. I think I saw a red version too, but in the end I had to go for navy.
3. Rodo vintage leather bag: This is the closest vintage substitute I could find for the A.P.C. suede purse with a chain handle. I think I'll keep looking, because this particular one isn't exactly the right shape, and I do like the A.P.C. suede better than the more formal smooth leather, but isn't the color perfect for Fall?
4. Vintage plaid tote: If I were a more put-together sort of person I'd snap this up and use it as a bag for my holiday knitting projects. I love the plaid and leather!

i have that same bag in tan! i love it and i use it all the time! the other bags you looked at were so cute too! i always have a pile of receipts and stuff in my bag too and right now i have a ton of candy in there!
I love the D&B bag! Neat blog (:
I love vintage D&B! It's so old-lady-pretty in the best way.
"I change bags every so often and have a big mass of receipts and junk piled up in every one of them"
I am the exact same way! I've used 3 different bags in the last 3 days, which is rare for me, and the bags have just gotten smaller so there's a ton of leftover junk in each previous bag.

i have that exact same purse, but i have never worn it! what a silly coincidence!
and i also change my purses often and all of them are filled with receipts and stuff, too. every once in a while i find money tucked away in the compartments when i switch back to a different purse. ;)
Oooh, I love your new purse! It's quite lovely.
i love the old school d&b bags ... with the crazy duck! very cute!
I love the first two bags! I am currently trying to find beautiful brown or cream bag and those two are just so near to what I want! ooo...
Those are really lovely! I especially love the D&B one you just bought. I really am a fan of functional, easy to carry bags like the ones you've chosen...not too big, but roomy enough for a little clutter. ;) I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who stockpiles receipts in my bag!
I am also a constant bag-changer. I spaz out when I can't find my chapstick! I never know which bag it is in. I actually just added that last plaid & leather bag to my favorites this afternoon after trying to find weird plaid bags. It's awesome!
I also really like your blog. Best from Stockholm
i have the same vintage D&B bag in navy! :) haha i love how everyone here has the same bag :)
i love my navy one. it's a great staple in my closet!
fell in love with those bags..
Your bag is seriously cool. Very jealous.
I always carry a bunch of receipts and bills around in my bag, which is dangerous as I'm always changing. Every few months I have to tip all my bags out and then do my filing!
i totaly love the bag 4!

Oh wow! I got a very similar D&B bag (this is mine) recently except mine is a different shape with a flat bottom. I love it. It's much smaller than what I'm used to but I love wearing it across rather than on my shoulder. My shoulder is very happy about that! And even though mine is quite worn in, it's even better that way.
I love buying vintage bags. I just got two beaded bags recently, one with a long chain, the other a small handle. I alternate between the two when all i need to carry is my lipgloss and my phone. So weekends and evenings, generally.
Oh I collect vintage D&B! Let's see I have, five now, I think. I love them all so dearly! My favorite two are my cream one and my forest green one. But now I feel even better for sporting them around now that you've put your stamp of approval on them! They are great for fall.
i love the vintage plaid post! but they are all adorable!
n°3 is so wonderful, i'd love to go on adventures with that little wonder hanging from my shoulder.
your purse is really simple and lovely and clean! i was shocked at how neat it was until you mentioned the piles of receipts and papers in your other purses. i've got my share of those junk piles too, such a waste of paper!
http://bit.ly/QLAEg You are tagged!
Love the bag! I've been carrying a vintage Dooney & Burke bag lately, which I picked up at the thrift store awhile back in the same color. I love that navy with the brown/tan trim.
I was reading your earlier post about going to see the abandoned train station and I was reminded of an abandoned house near my childhood home in Australia. I suppose the South is quite similar- people move slower and have a familiarity.
i love seeing what's in people's bags, i'm so nosy hehe. yours looks very simple, i like it.
It's such a sweet little purse, Rhiannon! I love your blog but have just decided to comment, I don't why I have decided to comment now but I'm glad I have. Want to show my appreciation and I have started a blog so I guess I understand the happiness comments can bring! Great blog anyway!
I have a very similiar vintage plaid bag. Love them all! :)
