Recent finds

Whenever I'm sick I always end up spending a lot more time than I should on tempting online stores and boutiques, and this time is no exception. I haven't bought anything yet, but there is an A.P.C. Madras dress that I've been eyeing for a few weeks, though I haven't decided yet whether or not to get it. Like a lot of people right now I'm trying not to spend quite so much. And if I do buy clothes I'm trying to buy vintage, since it's just a better investment and usually a better deal all-around.

Of course that doesn't make online stores any less tempting. Last week I ended up buying a dress in the sale section from Urban Outfitters, a store I usually don't buy too much from. The dress was marked down to $20.00 from $88.00, so I thought it would be worth it. And the quality isn't terrible as far as U.O. goes--those honestly if I paid $88.00 I'd probably send it right back.

The shoes above are also for sale at U.O., but these were actually sent to me by the nice people at Solestruck. I feel like the luckiest person, because I had my eye on these for a while, too. They're made by Seychelles and are available at lots of different sites online, but as far as I know the only place that has them reduced in price at the moment is Solestruck. You can find them here!

My other recent buy isn't clothing-related at all--I found this funny, multi-colored pillow at the thrift store the other day and I couldn't resist. It fits into my tacky old lady-style living room perfectly! Plus I think I want a dress made out of those strips of fabric sewn together. It kind of makes me happy just to look at it.

On another shopping related note I just got an email from the owner of an online boutique called Ruche and I thought I'd pass along the link. The owner, Mai, just started the shop a few months ago and has it packed full of vintage-inspired clothing and accessories with extra-reasonable prices. Think Forever21 prices, but with much prettier and more unique pieces. I have my eye on the simple chambray dresses and skirts especially!

I love old lady pillows! They are funny and awesome. I had an old magazine from the 70's that had a ton of weird old crewel embroidery pillow kit ads, it was great.

Wow, Ruche has some pretty stuff!

Anja, that sounds hilarious! I love all that stuff . . . it's so much fun.

Anna, aww, I'm so glad you like them!

Hot Bot, I know, I'm tempted to get that necklace!

Beccajanie, I just found it when they emailed me! It looks really cute.

Annashapiro, yes, I'll add you!

Fig, no way! Ruche didn't pay me to say those things . . . I just thought the shop looked cute and I like the idea of a small, independently owned online boutique. As for Solestruck, they were nice enough to send shoes to a bunch of bloggers, and they didn't ask for advertising either. What is your blog, btw?

Aya, thanks for that!! I appreciate it!

Esme and Abbey, thank you!

That's so funny, I have been wanting those shoes for, oh I don't know how long (I found them on Lori's Shoes). Lucky you!! And that dress, another thing I thought was quite cute when I was browsing the sale items on UO's online site. But I am like you where I am usually hesitant to buy from UO anymore, but that dress really appealed to me, especially the price.
And those pillows! Your living room looks absolutely adorable--so cozy. I love all your frames and such scattered haphazardly above your couch.
Hope you had a wonderful day!
Ciao dear <3

I have a vintage dress pattern (Simplicity, I think) that's exactly like that Ruche dress. And I *love* how it looks--I'm certain I'm going to make it again.
